Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have publicized their retained and released players’ lists before the IPL 2026 mini-auction that is scheduled for December 16 in Abu Dhabi. Curiously, the group has maintained nearly all of its core, even the star players such as Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen, and Pat Cummins. In all SRH has kept 15 players thus they still have two overseas slots vacant and a whopping ₹25.5 crore purse left to add more strength to their squad.
As the team gears up for the auction, there are various players released by different teams who might become primary targets. Below are the players SRH might focus on.
Sunrisers Hyderabad Can Target in the IPL Auction
Ravi Bishnoi
First and foremost, SRH may try to obtain the services of Ravi Bishnoi who has been let go by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
The young Indian leg-spinner brings both diversity and reliability to the table and thus becomes a player that every team would love to have. Besides, Bishnoi has already made a name for himself in T20 cricket with his quick, aggressive bowling style and also he has been able to outsmart batters with his sharp googlies.
Until now, he has played for Punjab Kings and LSG in the IPL and has taken 72 wickets in 76 innings while conceding at an average rate of 8.22. The Indian bowler currently relies on speed and clever variations rather than a big turn so he could be in the radar of many teams.
At present SRH possess a foreign-heavy batting lineup with only Kamindu Mendis being a recognized spinner, thus if they go for Bishnoi, it would do the team a great deal of good.
David Miller
David Miller who was set free by the Gujarat Titans is another very strong candidate for SRH. The seasoned South African batsman would provide the much-needed strength to the middle order. Additionally, he has a fantastic working relationship with Heinrich Klaasen, as they have been together on the national team. This existing partnership could turn into a reliable middle-order for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The figures of Miller are very impressive and self-explanatory. His runs have been all 3,029 scored in 129 innings at an average of 36.5 with one century and 13 fifties, batting through no. 4 and no. 6. He is one with the temperament to steer run chases quietly and finish off the games, who is an asset, more so, for SRH that have been on the lookout for a constant middle-order batsman through a variety of names like Aniket Verma and Abhinav Manohar.
Thus, Miller is capable of being the anchor they are searching for.
Glenn Maxwell
Eventually, SRH can also think of Glenn Maxwell, who has been released by Punjab Kings. Maxwell, if picked, would not only be joining the likes of Travis Head and Pat Cummins but also reinforcing the base of the team with an Australian core. Besides, the playing conditions at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium which normally support batters, suit Maxwell’s aggressive style of play.
Maxwell is not just a strong hitter but also a good off-spin bowler. With the SRH release of Adam Zampa and Rahul Chahar, his capacity to serve both with the bat and ball is even more valuable now.
Up to now in his IPL life, Maxwell has always been good against spinners. Besides, the fact that only Klaasen among the middle-order batsmen is consistently performing against both types of bowling makes it even more important to have Maxwell around as a formidable ally. Interestingly, Klaasen is good against pace bowling, while Maxwell is good at batting against spin, hence the two can interchange their roles and work together very well.
And with Kamindu Mendis having a good IPL 2026 season, however, the choice between Maxwell and Kamindu for SRH is one based on the latter’s experience and the former’s match-winning potential coming into play.
He has a record of scoring 2,819 runs and taking 41 wickets throughout his IPL career, demonstrating his all-around impact. Moreover, his ability to bat at any position in the order also provides SRH with more tactical options.
