At the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground, South Africa will soon engage Australia in the WTC final. Australia are the defending champions, whilst South Africa hopes to win their first ICC trophy since 1998, when they won the Knockout Cup.
Captain Temba Bavuma announced the playing XI during a press conference and conveyed his confidence to win the match. Thereafter, he addressed Rabada’s recent issues regarding the drug ban. Bavuma remarked that Rabada had spoken to the team and had answered their questions very honestly and that the team was now putting that behind them and is focusing on the match.
In the last couple of weeks, we’ve had quite a few conversations about how everything unfolded. He came out and answered any questions players had, Bavuma stated. As far as we’re concerned, that’s behind us now. We’re here to focus on what we need to do.
He added that Rabada is very motivated to perform well after the ban and feels in the best shape of his career. Bavuma further added that the opportunity of playing against Australia is an added motivation for Rabada, and he is now mentally fit.

Rabada was banned for a month for testing positive for cocaine during the 2025 IPL season . Although after his ban was lifted he played a few matches afterward for the Gujarat Titans, he didn’t perform the way he’s known for. So now, he’ll be looking to make a strong statement in the WTC final
