After Mohammed Siraj’s six-wicket haul against England in the second Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Edgbaston, Arshdeep Singh teased him in a nice way.
During Siraj’s interview with the BCCI after the third day, Arshdeep said Siraj’s famous line had been changed to, “I only believe in myself and Jassi (Jasprit Bumrah) bhai.”
Siraj first said the viral line after the 2024 T20 World Cup win over South Africa. Bumrah helped India win when South Africa needed 30 runs off the last five overs, ending India’s 11-year wait for an ICC title. Siraj wasn’t playing in that game, and when asked how he felt, he said he only believed in Bumrah because he is a game-changer.
Even though his English wasn’t perfect, Siraj’s emotion showed how he felt, making it a memorable moment of 2024. Arshdeep thought it would be funny to bring it up again after Siraj led India’s bowling attack and got his first five-wicket haul in England while Bumrah was absent.
“Bhai, the line has changed, Arshdeep said. “I only believe in myself and Jassi bhai. From today, the line is changed. There has been a slight change in plan — I believe in myself and Jassi bhai!
Siraj likes Bumrah, but it is interesting that his performance gets better when he plays without him.

His 6/70 at Edgbaston, which helped India keep England to 407/10 in the second innings and take a 180-run lead, was the third time he took five or more wickets in an innings without Bumrah playing.

There could be many reasons for this, but Siraj said it was because of the added responsibility.
I enjoy the responsibility. My goal was to not give up runs, bowl with control, and create pressure, he said.
India leads by 244 runs at the end of the third day.
