The WPL 2026 mega auction is just a step away, and the day is set to be November 27 at New Delhi. Five teams had already given their last list a few days back, which included some surprising releases and big names that were out in the pool for grabs.
However, while the auction is approaching very soon, the franchise owners would also prefer to look for in-form players that can bring the most value to them in the tournament that is going to be held in January. The Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) is going on right now, and what can be a better scanner than the second most successful cricket league in the world?
Therefore, we will now talk about some top WBBL performers of this season who are in great form and have the potential to trigger bidding wars at the WPL 2026 auction.
WBBL Stars Likely to Fetch Massive Bids
1. Meg Lanning
Meg Lanning, the experienced Australia Women player, is one of the most unexpected departures this year from the Delhi Capitals franchise. The DC Women, who have retained 5 players and have a balance of ₹5.7 Cr, might have let go of the superstar in order to replenish their purse. However, Lanning is at her best in WBBL 2025.
Meg Lanning appears in three WBBL matches for the Melbourne Stars Women: so far, she has made 153 runs with an average of 76.50. She has also claimed a peak of 90 off just 55 balls against the Perth Scorchers in a match-winning knock with a strike rate of 150.00.
2. Danni Wyatt-Hodge
Danni Wyatt-Hodge, who was responsible for 137 runs in the previous WPL season for Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women, also had an average that was lower than her strike rate at 22.83 with 125.68. Unfortunately, she was released by RCB Women together with other big names such as Sophie Devine and Georgia Wareham, as RCB presently has an INR 6.15 crore purse and 4 retained players.
Danni is the leading run-scorer currently in the WBBL 2025 with 179 runs in 3 matches, where she maintains an impressive average of 59.67 and a strike rate of 172.12. She started the tournament with a phenomenal opening match performance scoring 90 runs in just 52 balls against Sydney Thunder Women. Other than the giant run, her scores also provided good numbers of 44 and 45.
With the scorching hot form Danni has and her previous contributions in WBL, she is bound to be one of the most sought after players by the franchises in the WBL 2026 auction.
3. Georgia Wareham
Georgia Wareham is the player of the tournament for the time being as she is an all-around star 123 runs and 7 wickets from 4 matches. She has certainly been a great benefit to Melbourne Renegades Women through her batting and bowling skills.
Georgia’s first match against Brisbane Heat resulted in the wicket of 3 players while in the next match against Thunder she scored a stunning 58 runs off just 32 balls in a winning cause.
With Georgia’s past record in WPL of 234 runs and 20 wickets over seasons, she might be one of the players that will trigger a huge bid in the forthcoming auction.
