Shoaib Bashir is ready to bowl if needed, confirmed Marcus Trescothick, the former England cricketer and current batting coach. Bashir had a hand injury and was off the field for most of the day.
We expect the fast bowlers to take the lead, Trescothick said. Especially with the bounce from good length at the Nursery End. Washington Sundar’s four wickets put India in a good position to win the Lord’s Test, but the batsmen struggled and ended the day on 58/4 chasing 193 on a tough pitch.
We were looking to get to 250, Trescothick said at the post-match press conference. It was hard to know what would be a good score in the first innings. We have something to aim for tomorrow. Bashir is available to bowl when he’s needed.
After the pacers did their job, Washington’s off-spin did the trick and India bowled England out for 192 in the final session.
India need 135 with six wickets in hand, England need a win. Trescothick thinks it could turn quickly.
The first hour will be key, depending on how India play or how many wickets we take. We really want to win. It will be amazing, Trescothick said.
We’ve had four great days of cricket and both games have had great support. The last hour was amazing, everyone was invested, Trescothick added.

Trescothick is counting on the variable bounce from his pacers and their ability to bowl a wobbly seam to trouble India tomorrow.
The variable bounce from the quick bowlers and those who can bowl a wobble seam seems to be the key. It’s a tough ball to face on this pitch, Trescothick said.
