Yash Dayal, the fast bowler, is in big trouble. He may be arrested after being accused of sexual assault of a minor. A case has been registered against him at Sanganer Sadar Police Station in Jaipur. So, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has banned him from playing in the upcoming UP T20 League.
Dayal, a left-arm bowler, played for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) when they won the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2025. He did well that season, taking 13 wickets in 15 games. But now his future in professional cricket is uncertain. The UPCA’s decision to keep Dayal out of the league shows they take the charges seriously and want to protect the game’s reputation.
A UPCA source said since a case is registered against Dayal, the board doesn’t want him to play in the T20 league. They have told the franchise not to include him.
Dayal has played for Gujarat Titans and RCB in the IPL. He has taken 41 wickets in 43 matches. He won the IPL title with GT in 2022 when Hardik Pandya was the captain. In that season he took 11 wickets in 9 matches. In 2023, Rinku Singh from KKR hit him for 5 sixes in the last 5 balls of a match.
He was bought by RCB in the IPL 2024 auction and took 15 wickets for them in the 2024 edition of the world’s richest franchise cricket league. RCB retained Dayal before the IPL 2025 mega auction. In the IPL this year he dismissed 13 batsmen in 15 matches.

Reports say Gorakhpur Lions, a team in the UP T20 League, bought Dayal for INR 7 lakh. Now he can’t play in the league due to his legal issues. Recently he faced a setback when the Rajasthan High Court refused to give him any relief. The court didn’t stop his arrest or any police action, saying the case was sensitive as it involved a minor. The next hearing is on August 22.
The first case against the 27-year-old was registered in Ghaziabad. He was accused of sexually exploiting a woman by promising to marry her. An earlier complaint, sent through the Chief Minister’s online portal on June 21, said Dayal emotionally, mentally and physically exploited the woman during a 5-year relationship.
The Allahabad High Court had given him relief in this case earlier. But in July, another case was filed against him in Jaipur. The Rajasthan High Court didn’t give him any relief in that case.
