The mentor for the Lucknow Super Giants, Zaheer Khan, has said in support of captial Rishabh Pant, saying that even in a time when he has had a hard IPL season, nobody doubts his capabilities. He may surely come stronger after this experience. Pant, who was bought for a stratospheric price of Rs 27 crore at the auction, could never really get going through the season and could pile on only 269 runs from 13 innings. However, he did end on a heroic note, blasting 118 in 61 balls in the last game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, but his heroics could not stop defeat.
“He has been a good leader for us, which has been a positive for this season. It has been a learning experience for us to see the kind of form he had, but there was never any question on his ability,” said Zaheer after the match. He added that the best part was to see Pant finish on a high and show what he is capable of.
