Zimbabwe Cricket has announced that Sikandar Raza will captain the team in the upcoming T20I Tri-Series against South Africa and New Zealand. The series starts on July 14 at Harare Sports Club. This is a good one for Zimbabwe to test the team before other international games.
Richard Ngarava, the left-arm fast bowler, is back after recovering from a lower-back injury. He joins Blessing Muzarabani in the fast bowling department. Brian Bennett, the all-rounder who missed some of the recent Test series against South Africa due to concussion, is also back. He adds balance to the team in both batting and bowling.
Ryan Burl, Tony Munyonga and Tashinga Musekiwa who played well in Zimbabwe’s last T20I series against Ireland in February are also in the squad.
Three new players have been added to the T20I team: Tafadzwa Tsiga, the wicketkeeper-batter; Newman Nyamhuri, the left-arm fast bowler; and Vincent Masekesa, the leg-spinner.
Tafadzwa Tsiga, a reliable wicketkeeper-batter with a good record in domestic cricket is getting his first chance in a T20I. Newman Nyamhuri has been included to add variety to the pace attack. Vincent Masekesa, the leg-spinner known for his spin and control, is another option alongside Wellington Masakadza.
