After not making the final shortlist of the IPL 2025 mega auction, Jofra Archer has now made himself available in the auction pool.
The England pacer was part of the long list of 1574 players who had registered for the big event. A few days ago, the BCCI revealed the shortlisted players for the auction, and Archer’s name was missing from it.
According to a report by The Cricketer, the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) didn’t issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to Archer. That prevented him from making the final list for the upcoming season.
The ECB wanted Archer and Mark Wood to prioritise their preparation for next year’s Ashes series in Australia. Both bowlers are injury-prone, and thus the ECB initially denied them the NOCs.
But Archer wasn’t happy with the ECB’s decision, which prompted the board to give the fast bowler a go-ahead to participate in the IPL 2025 auction. Wood, on the other hand, won’t feature in this IPL season at all.
Archer was with Mumbai Indians (MI) for the 2022 and 2023 seasons before missing the 2024 edition to regain his fitness. MI had bought the England pacer for INR 8 crore before the 2022 season.
Now that Archer is returning to the auction, he will be among the 575 players shortlisted for the grand event slated for November 24 and 25.
