Babar Azam is one of the most premium batters in world cricket. The right handed batter has been one of the most consistent batters in the world and is often regarded as one of the greatest batters to serve Pakistani cricket.
However amidst all this one thing that remains consistent with Babar Azam is his inability to perform in the ICC tournaments. The stalwart has been a disappointment for the “Men in Green ” in the last few ICC events.
Babar Azam is now going to feature in the ICC champions trophy, however the right handed batter’s performance remains under the scrutiny.
Here are a few reasons that Babar Azam will have a poor outing in the Champions Trophy.
1. Inconsistent performance in the previous two Multi-nation tournaments:
Babar Azam has been a big flop for Pakistan in the previous two ICC events. The star batter accumulated 122 runs in the 4 innings of the 2024 T20 world cup which forced Pakistan to get eliminated from the group stage itself.
However the 2023 World Cup was better for Babar Azam in terms of runs,the swash-buckling batter scored 320 runs in 9 outings but none of them came in the winning cause.
Looking at the track record it’s looking like Babar Azam will have another poor ICC event.
2. Not able to score runs on consistent basis:
One of the major things that has been associated with Babar Azam is his ability to pile runs on the consistent basis throughout his career. However the right handed batter has been facing tough times in terms of runs. He had a horrible 2024 season where he failed the majority of times to score runs.
He had a good series against South Africa but in his recent outings against West Indies he once again failed miserably.
With a major ICC tournament in line pakistan need to worry looking at the current form of their best batsman.
3. Weakness has been known to the opposition:
Babar Azam has been seen struggling against the incoming deliveries which is one of major reasons for his failures. The batter finds himself in trouble against the incoming deliveries. The opposite teams have found this weakness in him and are going to exploit that in the upcoming tournament.
