Star Indian cricketer Abhishek Sharma has taken the world of cricket by storm. The 24-year-old star has reigned supreme lately, from quick-fire knocks in the IPL to the Indian team’s splendor in the short format. He stole recently all the limelight through a masterclass performance against England in the fifth T20I of the ongoing white ball series.
Abhishek’s brilliant knock of 135 runs off 54 balls against England at the Wankhede Stadium saw a considerable jump in the recent ICC men’s T20I batting rankings. The blitzkrieg at Wankhede saw the 24-year-old jump 38 places into the second position.
Australia’s star batter Travis Head still holds the No. 1 spot with a rating of 855. On the other hand, Abhishek Sharma is rated 829.
Tilak Varma, who was second, slipped to the third spot with a rating of 803, whereas Phil Salt and Suryakumar Yadav are now in the fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
Abhishek Sharma would be working on his game and hoping to make a swift climb to the No. 1 position in the rankings, but with no T20I games lined up ahead for the Indian team, the 24-year-old has to wait.
Abhishek Sharma, after the five T20Is against England, is still the highest run-getter. He scored 279 runs, while Jos Buttler came second and scored only 146 runs in five innings.
Moreover, the 135 runs off 54 balls scored by the 24-year-old are the highest individual score by an Indian male player in the shortest format. Abhishek Sharma is now aiming for the No. 1 spot, sitting just 26 rating points behind Travis Head.
