ODI debuts for rising batting star Yashasvi Jaiswal and rookie pacer Harshit Rana will be on the line in Nagpur. Both Jaiswal and Rana have represented India in Tests and T20Is.
India will be facing England today in the first match of a three-match ODI series at the Vidarbha Cricket Stadium.
Jaiswal, the top-order batter, is past the proving stage in Tests and T20Is. He seems earmarked for greatness and has 1798 runs at an average of 52.88 from 19 Tests, whereas in 23 T20Is, he has managed to score 723 runs at a strike rate of 164.31.
Harshit Rana, on the other hand, made his Test debut last November in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, and has so far taken four wickets in two Tests.
He made his T20I debut in the recent five-match series against England, coming on as a concussion substitute for Shivam Dube during the 4th match in Pune. The 23-year-old played a hero’s role in India winning the match in thrilling fashion with bowling figure 3/33 as the hosts took an upper hand at 3-1.
On the other hand team India received a massive blow as Star batter Virat Kohli got ruled out of the first ODI due to a knee injury.
“…unfortunately Virat isn’t playing, he had a knee problem last night,” informed India captain Rohit Sharma during the toss
