The Kalpavas are a period of fasting, deliberate restraint, and spiritual conversations. It is very meaningful in Maha Kumbh as this year more than ten lakh devotees observed Kalpavas at the Triveni Sangam, Prayagraj, because of the sacred character of this ritual.

A brief history about Mahakumbh.
As per tradition, observing Kalpavas on the banks of the Sangam during the month of Magh is said to yield the benefit of a thousand years of penance. The significance is especially heightened during Maha Kumbh.
Kalpavas would terminate on Maghi Purnima, February 12, at Sangam. Devotees will take a holy dip, conduct pujan, daan, and return home.
Kalpvas come to hold particular importance during the Maha Kumbh, this large occasion of faith and spirituality.
In order to assist and maintain safe passage for the devotees who will either enter or leave during the bathing on Magh Purnima, February 12, the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government has implemented full-fledge anticipatory arrangements to ensure that everything goes well for the expected influx of devoted persons. Security has been placed on high alert in every hospital in the city, division offices, and the Maha Kumbh area as directed by the Chief Minister.
In addition, to meet emergencies, a total of 133 ambulances have been deployed at various strategic points-all told, 125 are road ambulances; seven are river ambulances; and one is air ambulance.
High-tech medical services have been set up throughout the area of Mahakumbh, where even minor operations to major surgeries could easily be carried out. Dr Gaurav Dubey, Nodal Medical Officer of the Mahakumbh Mela, remarked that emergency services of the Yogi government are considered most important, especially the ambulance service. Within the area of Mahakumbh, more than 2000 doctors are deployed, and additionally, 700 doctors have been kept in high alert position at Swaroop Rani Nehru (SRN) Hospital.
Security measures for the Mahakumbh
Special directives from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath have been issued for reserving 250 beds and arranging for 200 blood units for emergency cases at SRN Hospital. The influx of patients is entirely prepared by the 43 hospitals in Mahakumbh Nagar of 500-bed capacity.
The 40-bed trauma centre, 50-bed surgical ICU, 50-bed medicine ward, 50-bed PMSSY ward, and 40-bed burn unit have been allotted. A 10-bed cardiology unit and 10-bed ICU are also functioning in full swing. The entire system is being monitored under the leadership of Principal Dr Vatsala Mishra with Vice Principal Dr Mohit Jain and Chief Superintendent Dr Ajay Saxena overlooking specifically the needs of the devotees.
To ensure medical services run smoothly, 30 senior doctors are manning special assignments. The 30 are backed by a total of 180 resident doctors and above 500 nursing and paramedical personnel who all work continuously. There are strict orders from the hospital administration to housekeeping agencies for impeccable cleanliness.
