Former batter David Boon shall leave his position as an ICC match referee after the ongoing Champions Trophy to join Cricket Australia’s board effective March 28.
Boon, who is currently 64, will represent the Cricket Tasmania body at CA, taking over Paul Green.
“I am very excited that David is going to be bringing his enormous experience as a player and administrator of cricket into the CA board,” Baird said, as quoted by cricket.com.au.
“He has remained in touch, certainly, with what is happening in international cricket as an ICC match referee, and this will provide great perspective as we navigate the rapidly shifting landscape of the game,” he said.
Boon has been an ICC match referee since 2011. He played 107 Tests and 181 ODIs for Australia, accumulating a total of 13,386 international runs in the two formats. He was also part of the team that took the title in the 1987 World Cup in India.
After retirement in 1999, he was a selector from 2000 to 2011.
