On Thursday New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner admitted that India knows the slow track at the DICS well but said his team is prepared for a “scrap” in the Champions Trophy final.
Ahead of the ICC showpiece’s title match against India on March 9, the Kiwis landed here on Thursday evening.
“And they have played all of their games in Dubai, so they know that surface. Clearly the surface will somewhat determine our desired approach. It may be a tad bit slower than Lahore came. Touching up in the city, Santner said it could be more of a scrap but we are down to scrap.
Still, Santner said New Zealand could draw some comfort from their group stage matches against India.
On that occasion, a Group A game that only had a scholastic interest India scored 44 runs more than New Zealand.
“We’re up against a decent side. ” I believe the run we had against them the other day will improve us. We have been somewhat on a roll. He added, hopefully it goes on.
In a brief span, the Antipodeans had to hop back and forth between Pakistan and Dubai for their last group game, semi-final, and championship match.
The team has, however, adjusted to a demanding schedule in recent days, said the left-arm spinner.
“Moving around a lot is merely the overall feel of this competition.” All is part of the problems. I believe we have visited every destination here.
Certainly Dubai and in Pakistan. I believe the guys realize it is now standard part. He added, “It’s okay so long as you are ready to go for the game.
