MS Dhoni, the iconic Indian cricketer and ex-captain, was talking about that time in the 2019 IPL when he got mad and ran onto the field to argue with the umpires about a no-ball call that was up for debate. It all went down in the last part of the Rajasthan Royals versus Chennai Super Kings game in Jaipur on April 11, 2019.
CSK needed 8 runs in 3 balls when Ben Stokes bowled what looked like a no-ball. The umpire first called it a no-ball but then changed his mind. That’s when Dhoni lost it and stormed onto the field to yell at the umpires. Because of his crazy actions, he got fined half of his match fee.
At a recent event, Mandira Bedi asked Dhoni, Have you ever lost your cool? ” He remembered that moment and said, “Yeah, many times. It happened once during an IPL game. I just walked right onto the field. That was a really bad move.
He added, “But there have been other times, too, when I’ve gotten worked up because we’re playing a sport where you have to win every single game.”
Dhoni, who has led CSK to win five IPL titles, is going to play for them again in the next 2025 season. The Chennai team is paying him Rs 4 crore to stay on the team before the big IPL 2025 auction.
CSK will play against their biggest rivals, the Mumbai Indians, in their first IPL 2025 game on Sunday, March 23. This big match between the two best teams ever in the tournament will be at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
In the next IPL season, Dhoni can beat Suresh Raina’s record of 4687 runs and become CSK’s top run scorer in IPL. Dhoni has scored 4669 runs in 234 IPL matches for CSK. He just needs 18 more runs to beat Raina.
