The Rajasthan Royals are gearing up for the new IPL season, and the first champs are facing off against Sunrisers Hyderabad, the 2024 finalists. Game 2 is happening on March 23 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
Word is the Royals are making big changes to their team for IPL 2025. Guys like Jos Buttler, Trent Boult, Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, and tons of other big names got released before the auction.
But they brought in Nitish Rana, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Maheesh Theekshana to help them push forward. Before the season started, the Rajasthan Royals got a boost when their captain, Sanju Samson, showed up at camp.

Samson’s leading the Royals again in IPL 2025. He’s had a few good seasons with the team, and he’s hoping to get them their second IPL title. It’s worth mentioning that the last three seasons have been tough for the Rajasthan Royals. They made it to the final in IPL 2022 but lost to Gujarat Titans. They didn’t even make it out of the group stages in IPL 2023. Then, they got to the playoffs in IPL 2024.
They beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the eliminator but then lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2. After another rough ending, they switched up their team. With Rahul Dravid as the new head coach and some fresh faces, the Royals are hoping to do way better in 2025 and maybe even win it all.
