Ishwar Pandey, the head coach of Rewa Jaguars and a former Indian cricketer, believes Jasprit Bumrah will play all five Tests against England. When the Indian squad for the upcoming Test series was announced, chief selector Ajit Agarkar said Bumrah has been advised not to play in consecutive Tests to manage his workload. This comes after Bumrah had a stress reaction in his back during the fifth Test against Australia in Sydney in January.
Talking to ANI about Bumrah, Ishwar said, He’s mentioned that, but it really depends on how his body holds up in the games. There are five Tests and that’s a lot. I think he can play all the matches.”
Earlier on June 17, Bumrah had said he had a discussion with the BCCI about managing his workload before both Rohit and Virat retired. He wanted to take into account his physical condition and the challenges of a five-Test series. He even consulted with his support team and surgeon to come up with a smart plan for his workload.
“Before Rohit and Virat retired, during the IPL, I talked to the BCCI about my workload for the upcoming five-Test series. I spoke to those who help manage my back and my surgeon as well about being smart with my workloads, Bumrah said during an interview on Sky Sports Cricket.

He also added, “Captaining meant a lot to me and I’ve put in a lot of effort for it. But sometimes you have to think about the bigger picture. I love cricket more than being a captain, so I want to contribute to the team more as a player. I have my ambitions but at the end of the day I told the BCCI that I didn’t want a leadership role.”
Bumrah is currently playing in the Leeds Test at Headingley which is from June 20 to 24. In his previous performances in England he has taken 37 wickets in nine matches at an average of 26.27, economy rate of 2.72 and strike rate of 57.8.
