In a recent domestic T20 match, Curtis Campher made history for Ireland. Playing for Munster Reds against North-West Warriors in the 23rd match of Cricket Ireland’s inter-provincial T20 Trophy, Campher took five wickets in five balls.
Campher’s feat was over two overs. He started his wicket taking spree by taking two wickets in the last two balls of the 12th over. Then in the 14th over he took a hat-trick, three wickets in three balls. He played a big role in Munster Reds win. North-West Warriors were chasing 189 and were bowled out for 88. Munster Reds won easily.
Campher’s first victim was Jared Wilson who was dismissed without scoring. Then on the last ball of the same over he sent back Hume. He carried his momentum into the next over and removed Andy McBrine who was batting well. Robbie Millar and Josh Wilson were his fourth and fifth wickets. With this Campher became the first player in professional cricket to take five wickets in five balls.

Campher finished his spell with 5 wickets for 16 runs in 2.3 overs. This is a big step in his return from a finger injury. Campher missed the recent T20I and ODI series against West Indies. He seems to be back in form and contributing with bat and ball in domestic matches.
Curtis Campher also took four wickets in four balls at international level. He did it in the 2021 T20 World Cup against Netherlands. He is a key player for Ireland and is valued for his all-round ability. Ireland play three ODIs against England in September and Campher is expected to join the international squad for that series. He will show his skills again on the big stage if he gets a chance to play.
