The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Cricket West Indies (CWI) are at a crossroads about their next limited-over series. The tour, scheduled for August 1-12 in the US and the Caribbean, was to have three T20Is in Florida and three ODIs in Trinidad. Now, the ODI games might not happen at all.
Pakistan wants all six games to be T20Is. They told CWI they want to get rid of the Trinidad ODIs and add more T20 games instead because they are focusing on the 2026 T20 World Cup and 2025 Asia Cup.
CWI, though, wants to keep the ODI format in the Caribbean, mainly because the West Indies didn’t even get to play in the 2023 ODI World Cup. CWI thinks it’s very important to play more 50-over games to rebuild and give new players experience.
CWI CEO Chris Dehring told Cricbuzz on Wednesday that they are still talking to the PCB. The schedule is still the same and we are still talking to the PCB about it, Dehring said. He’s off to Singapore for the ICC Annual Conference. The two will likely talk more during the meeting.

The current plan has the three T20Is on August 1, 3 and 4 in Lauderhill, Florida and the three ODIs on August 8, 10 and 12 in Tarouba, Trinidad. Pakistan will play a quick T20I series in Bangladesh from July 20-24 before heading to the US. Some senior players like Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Rizwan won’t be part of the team. Haris Rauf and Shadab Khan are out due to injuries.
The West Indies just lost a Test series to Australia 3-0. Now they are preparing to host the Aussies in a five-match T20I series from July 21-29 which is important for their own limited-over goals. This makes the Pakistan series even more important for CWI, mainly the ODI part.
