Shreyas Iyer has announced he will play in the Duleep Trophy which starts India’s domestic season this year. The tournament begins on August 28 and teams will be picked this Friday afternoon in Mumbai.
Iyer along with Sarfaraz Khan and Shivam Dube will start their domestic season with the Duleep Trophy. This year the tournament is back to the zonal format.
Iyer recently captained the Punjab Kings to their first IPL final in a decade. After that he took a vacation in Europe and posted pictures from Spain after the Mumbai T20 league where his team lost in the final again.
Now he’s gearing up for a long domestic season and wants to start strong by doing well in the Duleep Trophy.
Iyer and other Mumbai players have said they are available for the Duleep Trophy and Sarfaraz Khan is also keen to play. Sarfaraz was with the Indian team during the home season and travelled to Australia but didn’t get to play. He was dropped from the Test team in England and will look to make the most of the chances he gets in the Duleep Trophy.
