In the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 5th Test, Akash Deep gave Ben Duckett a send-off after bowling him.
England started well with a 92-run partnership between Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett. But Akash Deep got Duckett to edge one to the keeper for 43. Akash Deep then gave Duckett a send-off. The gesture got mixed reactions.
Talking to Sky Sports, former Australian captain Ricky Ponting wasn’t happy with Akash Deep’s behavior.
When asked if he would have been offended and reacted, Ponting said he would have punched Akash Deep if he were Duckett.
Ian Ward joked with Ricky Ponting on Sky Sports, I can think of a few batsmen down the years that would take umbrage at this, and I’m looking very much in your direction. That would have been a Ponting right hook, wouldn’t it?

Ponting replied, Probably yeah, probably.
Ponting praised Ben Duckett’s composure and also thought the two might know each other.
Ponting said, Although I mean, when I saw it, I just thought they must have been mates or played against each other somewhere or together. I would like to have something like that. I mean, you don’t see that every day, maybe in a local park game or not in a Test match that’s been played as fiercely as this series has been played. I love the way Ben Duckett plays his cricket. I think I like him more now to not to be able to react to that.
England were bowled out for 224 and India fought back to dismiss England for 247, with Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna taking four wickets each. By the end of day 2, England were 75 for 2 and were 52 ahead.
