Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj said that mutual trust and a united fast-bowling unit helped India make a comeback against England in the ongoing Test.
After Ben Duckett (43 off 38) and Zak Crawley (64 off 57) hit Siraj and the other bowlers hard in the first session, the Indian pacers came back strong. They bowled England out for 247 in the last session, which kept England’s lead to just 23 runs.
“Three of us talked during the break. We decided we know what we need to do,” Prasidh said in a BCCI video.
“We support each other when we are bowling. If we think something needs to change, we talk to each other and help each other stick to the plans.”
“We are happy and enjoy playing together. We keep pushing each other to do better and that’s what we do.” Siraj had three wickets in a strong eight-over spell in the afternoon and finished with 4/86 in 16.2 overs. Prasidh took 4/62 in 16 overs.
At tea, England was 215 for seven, effectively eight down since Chris Woakes couldn’t bat due to a shoulder injury.
At the end of Day 2, India was 75 for two in their second innings, leading by 52 runs. KL Rahul (7 off 28) was out after a bad shot.
Prasidh also spoke about the good rapport within the fast-bowling group.
“We have played together for about five years now, including in the IPL. We spend a lot of time together and the same with Akash Deep. The fast-bowling unit is in good shape,” he said.
“Boom (Jasprit Bumrah) has also been important and it’s important for us to enjoy each other’s success and have a good relationship off the field. This way we trust each other when we are on the field which helps the team.”

“I have worked hard on my bowling with different levels of effort and focusing on different areas. I learned from the two games I played and worked on how to get better.”Siraj cracked a joke with Bumrah during the game, “I asked Jassi bhai, ‘Who should I hug if I take five wickets?’ He said, ‘I’m here, just focus on getting those five wickets.’”
“Everyone enjoys playing in England because there’s more swing and the pitches help fast bowlers. I got five wickets but winning is what matters.”
“It’s great to come back strong after a tough session. It’s exciting as a fast bowler to come back like this.”
“It’s fun when you have responsibility, like talking to the bowlers and helping them understand what to do. I have worked hard since I was young. My mindset is simple: I give my all, no matter what the result is,” Siraj said.
