David Lloyd, the former England cricketer, says India is missing Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series. He thinks having either of them in the team could have won the big moments and changed the series.
Reports emerged in May that India were considering dropping Rohit from the Test captaincy to bring in fresh leadership. Then Rohit announced his retirement from Tests. A few days later Kohli confirmed he was also retiring from Tests. But it was later revealed his decision was made earlier.
Lloyd wrote in his Daily Mail column that while India have been good throughout the series they haven’t been able to grasp the big moments. He thinks if Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli had been in the team the series could have been different as some players have a knack of knowing and acting in big situations.

India are winning more sessions than England but are 2-1 down in the series going into the fifth day of the final Test.
Lloyd also had a word on Ollie Pope. He said after Pope’s century in England’s first innings at Headingley he hasn’t been good. In his last eight innings he has scored 200 runs with one fifty. Lloyd agrees with Michael Vaughan that Harry Brook should be vice-captain, he says Brook is secure and looks a natural leader. He says Pope’s place is under threat.
