Nasser Hussain, the former England captain, has an interesting fact about Mohammed Siraj. Apparently, Ben Stokes and his England team call the Indian fast bowler Mr. Angry. This is because of Siraj’s very energetic and expressive nature on the cricket field. Hussain mentioned this in his praise for Siraj, calling him a born entertainer who has both the passion and the talent to do well at the top level.
Siraj played a key role in India’s win at the Oval Test where he took 9 wickets. He had a few tough moments like dropping an early catch of Harry Brook who went on to score a century. He made an impact but Siraj didn’t lose confidence. He helped India win by 6 runs and complete one of their best comebacks. By the end of the series which ended 2-2, Siraj was the top wicket taker with 23 wickets.
Hussain wrote in his column for The Daily Mail, He’s spirited, the England team calls him Mr. Angry, and he has the longest follow through in the game so he grabs your attention. He added, You could create a collection of his dramatic moments – whether he was down on his knees in disappointment at Lord’s or the celebrations and despair depending on which way the DRS decisions went.
He’s a natural entertainer, but more importantly he has all the qualities you need to do well at the highest level: heart, passion and skill. He’s developed a significant outswing. Before he used to try to trap people LBW – as he did with Joe Root.

He also has a great Yorker. Like the one he bowled to Crawley late on day three. He went for it again just before lunch knowing that Gus Atkinson was trying to hit him over midwicket for a second six to tie the game and he nailed it. If Siraj had missed, India would have lost the series. It was a great performance from a talented player who has had to deal with some unfair stuff. Earlier Joe Root had also mentioned Siraj’s fake aggression. While praising the Indian bowler in a humorous way, Root said he can see through Siraj’s antics while batting.
Hussain also said he will miss the final day of the series now that it’s over.
“Now it’s over, I will miss it. It makes you wonder why people question this format? If you took someone who knows nothing about cricket to different Test match venues around the country 30 days ago and asked them if Test cricket is interesting, they’d think the question was funny. It’s so good. He said.
