Pujara Hints at Coaching Role
In a conversation with CricketNext, Pujara said:
“Right now I haven’t made plans for what’s next but I’ve certainly enjoyed my time in commentary. I was part of the commentary team for a couple of big series for India and I found those stints very rewarding. I’ll continue to do that. As far as coaching or NCA is concerned I’m open to it. I just haven’t thought about it yet.”
Pujara added, If an opportunity comes up I’ll think about it. I’ve said before I want to stay involved with the game. I’m happy to help Indian cricket in whatever way I can.
Pujara Commits to Indian Cricket
After retiring Pujara wants to spend time with his family and take a well deserved break. But he made it clear he wants to stay involved in cricket and help Indian cricket in any way.
Pujara said, “For now I want to focus on spending time with my family and take a break from cricket. But as I said I want to stay connected to the game. I will do whatever I can to help Indian cricket.
Pujara’s last game for India was in the 2023 WTC final against Australia at the Oval. The 37 year old finished his career with 7195 runs in 103 Test matches for India, 19 centuries and 35 half centuries. His retirement leaves a gap but his move into coaching is an exciting prospect for Indian cricket.
