As the 2025 Asia Cup approaches, India is going into the tournament with a new team and a lot of energy under captain Suryakumar Yadav. The matches will be held in the UAE and India’s 15 member squad is a mix of young guns, experienced all-rounders and different types of bowlers. The goal is clear: to get back to being the top team in the region.
Top Order and Middle Order:
Shubman Gill who is the vice-captain will likely be one of the openers. Abhishek Sharma or Sanju Samson can be the other opener, both are known for their aggressive batting. Tilak Varma and Rinku Singh will form the middle order. They will work with Suryakumar who can change the game with his unique batting at number 3 or 4. Having two wicketkeeper-batsmen Samson and Jitesh Sharma gives the team flexibility. They can provide stability or explosive hitting as per the situation.
All-Rounders:
The team has plenty of options for all-rounders. If Hardik Pandya is fit he brings a lot of power and fast bowling. Shivam Dube and Axar Patel add to the squad as they can both bat and bowl well. Playing in the UAE where spin bowling is important, Axar’s ability to control the game and score runs late in the innings will be very useful.
Bowlers:
Jasprit Bumrah leads the pace attack and his return brings experience and skill to the team. Arshdeep Singh a left arm bowler who can swing the ball and Harshit Rana a young talent complete the fast bowling options. The spinners are Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy who can both control the game and surprise the batsmen.
Possible Playing XI:
Gill, Abhishek/Samson, Suryakumar (captain), Tilak, Hardik, Rinku/Dube, Axar, Jitesh Sharma(wicketkeeper), Bumrah, Arshdeep, Kuldeep/Varun.
India’s Asia Cup 2025 Schedule

- September 14: vs Pakistan in Dubai

This young and talented team is what India is looking forward to in the future of T20 cricket. The Asia Cup 2025 is more than a tournament; it’s an opportunity for the next generation of Indian cricketers to prove themselves. They are ready to make their mark on the game. And the question is: will they do it and will they succeed under Yadav’s captaincy? Will they overcome their weaknesses? All these questions remain. But with the kind of players they have it will be hard to say they won’t win.
