The cold shoulder Team India gave Pakistan after the Asia Cup 2025 match is blowing up. After India’s 7 wicket win over Pakistan on Sunday, Suryakumar Yadav and his teammates literally ran to the locker room after hitting the winning runs, leaving the Pakistani team on the field. Word is, this was India’s way of protesting the Pahalgam terrorist attack.
After the match, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said that match referee Andy Pycroft told Pakistan’s captain Salman Ali Agha not to even try to shake hands with Suryakumar. PCB didn’t like this and thought it was bad sportsmanship.
PCB filed a complaint with the ICC and even threatened to boycott their next game against UAE.
So, what if Pakistan actually boycotts the UAE game? They have played 2 games so far, won one against Oman. That loss to India really hurt their standing in Group A. UAE also beat Oman after losing their first match to India. Both Pakistan and UAE have one loss each, so their next game is a must win.
If Pakistan doesn’t play, UAE gets 2 points and moves to the Super Four. India is already there with 4 points in 2 games. Pakistan will be out of the tournament with 2 points.

A TOI report said the match referee was acting on instructions from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) headed by Mohsin Naqvi (who also chairs the PCB) before the game.
According to a source following the situation, ICC’s job is done once they pick the officials. Someone from the ACC spoke to Pycroft before the game and that conversation led to what happened at the toss. PCB head should be finding out what was said in that chat, who said it and why, instead of blaming the ICC and making things worse.
