It looks like Jasprit Bumrah’s workload is being managed in the Asia Cup 2025.
Though he’s a key player, the 31-year-old fast bowler will probably sit out India’s next game.
India started the Asia Cup 2025 well, beating UAE by 9 wickets and then Pakistan by 7 wickets.
In both those games, India played with a team that had one main fast bowler, two regular spin bowlers, one all-rounder who bowls spin and two all-rounders who bowl fast.
Bumrah was the only true fast bowler in the team. Arshdeep Singh, the left-arm bowler who has taken the most wickets for India in T20Is, didn’t make the cut.
Bumrah bowled 3 overs against UAE and took 1 wicket for 19 runs. Against Pakistan he bowled his full 4 overs and took 2 wickets for 28 runs.
India’s next game is against Oman on September 19 but it doesn’t really matter since they have already qualified for the Super Fours.

According to PTI, the team is thinking of resting Bumrah for the Oman match. They want him to be in top shape for the important games later in the tournament.
India will play their Super Four matches on September 21, 24 and 26. If they reach the final they will play on September 28.
With so many games close together, India doesn’t want to risk Bumrah getting tired. Word is Arshdeep Singh or Harshit Rana might take his place in the team.
The report also mentions it’s not clear if Bumrah wants to sit out himself. But it makes sense to save him for the crucial part of the tournament rather than play him in a game that doesn’t matter to them.
Aakash Chopra spoke about how Arshdeep Singh could get into the India playing XI on his YouTube channel, saying he would play against Oman because Jasprit Bumrah would rest. He said: They will have to decide if they need a batter at No. 8 or not. If they do, then either Kuldeep or Varun will have to sit out. If India feels they don’t need a batter after No. 7 then Arshdeep can replace Shivam Dube. So you’d have Arshdeep, Bumrah, Varun, Axar and Kuldeep as your five bowlers and Hardik Pandya since you need six. But then you wouldn’t need Shivam Dube.
Right now I think India wants a batter at No. 8 so Axar Patel will probably be there. For now they will have one fast bowler. Later on they will include a second fast bowler, then you will have to drop one spinner.
