After Pakistan’s Asia Cup 2025 matches, including an 11-run win against Bangladesh, Captain Salman Ali Agha thinks winning close matches shows the team’s got something special.
Pakistan is second in the Super Four stage with two wins and one loss. India is in first place and plays Sri Lanka next. Bangladesh is third and Sri Lanka is out of the competition. Pakistan will play India for the first time in the tournament’s history in both ODI and T20I formats.
If we win these games we must be doing something right, Salman Ali Agha said after the match. Everyone played great. Batting could have been better and we’ll work on that. Shaheen is amazing; he does what the team needs. I’m happy for him. We could have scored more runs but our bowling was good early on and put pressure on them. When we bowl like that we usually win. Our fielding has been good thanks to Shane’s hard work. Mike Hesson told us if you can’t field you’re off the team. We can beat anyone and we’ll try to do that on Sunday.

Shaheen Afridi, who was Player of the Match, said his improved slower ball helped him a lot. He dedicated his award to his wife and son.
This award is for my wife and son, Shaheen Afridi said. Early wickets are important. My first three overs made a big difference in the powerplay. I worked on my slower ball and it worked out. The team wanted me to bowl with Nawaz and Faheem. I hit two sixes which helped us get momentum.
Bangladesh lost early wickets in their chase of 136 with Shaheen and Rauf causing trouble.
Bangladesh’s captain Jaker Ali blamed the loss on their batting.
Our batting let us down in the last two matches, Jaker Ali said. Our bowling was good. Batting lost us the game. I tried my best with the captaincy. Our bowlers Rishad and Saif did well with the bat but we couldn’t support Saif enough.
