India U19 and Australia U19 are playing the first Youth Test of the two-match series at Ian Healy Oval, Brisbane. In a manner similar to the ODI series, the visitors are dominating the proceedings in the longest format as well with brilliant performances from Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who has played an explosively good innings in the first innings. In the process, he has also outdone his captain Ayush Mhatre and has gone on to break his all-time record for India.
Suryavanshi needed just three sixes to break Mhatre’s record of most sixes hit by an Indian in Youth Tests, and he did so swiftly. The stylish left-hander opened the batting with Mhatre on the second morning of the ongoing Test match and raced to a fabulous century off 78 balls with 7 fours and 7 sixes to his credit.

Seven sixes along the way have helped Suryavanshi take his total of sixes in Youth Tests to 14-the most for India ever. Mhatre previously held the record at nine, and he could not add one more to that tally as he got out for 21 off 15 balls in the very first session.
Having smashed runs at will, Suryavanshi must now attempt a big knock as well, with India U19 looking to take a huge lead in the first innings.
