Sanju Samson-the swashbuckling wicketkeeper-batsman is fit and ready to play any role demanded of him by the team management in international matches. On Tuesday, at a grand event organised by CEAT, Samson opened up about contributing for the cause of the team in whichever way he can while receiving the award for batter of the year-T20I.
In his acceptance speech for the CEAT cricket award for best T20I batter of the year, Samson delved into his career journey. Ten years later, looking back at his career, Samson reckoned that although he has played close to 40 matches or so, he still feels lucky to have represented the country at the highest level.
The explosive batter said he is prepared to serve India in whatever way the team requires him to. The 30-year-old himself said he would be happy to bat at number nine and bowl a few overs of left-arm spin if the team needed him to.

“Well, maybe you want me walking in at No. 9, bowling some left-arm spin, just whatever is good for the team, I don’t mind. I recently finished 10 years, but it probably comes over only 40 games, honestly, I said in a post that the numbers don’t really represent the whole story, but frankly, I am proud of who I am today and proud of the challenges I had to go through. Rather than orienting to outside noise, I developed a habit of going inward.”
The Indian T20I team that will go to Australia for a series of five matches includes Sanju Samson. Considering the selections of Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill, Samson will probably bat in the middle order, as he did in Asia Cup 2025.
