New Zealand suffered a huge blow as their veteran player Daryl Mitchell was injured and ruled out for the series against West Indies. The BlackCaps tweeted this news on their official account. The aged left-handed batsman Henry Nicholls has been drafted into the New Zealand squad as a substitute.

Daryl Mitchell’s innings against West Indies in the ODI series started with a bang as he hit a magnificent century in the first match at Hagley Oval. Unfortunately, he went through a tough time after his injury during the great innings, and the 34-year-old had to get his condition checked.
The MRI disclosed a slight tear in his left groin, thus preventing him from taking part in the rest of New Zealand’s ODI matches against West Indies series. The middle-order batsman was crucial in BlackCaps victory over the visitors in the first ODI which was very exciting; he scored 119 runs off 118 balls with the help of twelve boundaries and two sixes.
The player has been nothing but great in the ODIs this year, as he scored a total of 761 runs, including seven fifty-plus scores with an excellent average of 54.36. Without him, New Zealand will not be the same as they will face a tough battle at home against the Caribbean men.
On the other hand, Henry Nicholls, the left-handed batsman, is 81 One-Day Internationals old New Zealand’s representative with a quiet success which is reflected in his 2180 runs at 34.6 average and 80.3 strike rate. The experienced player has hit 16 fifty plus scores including one hundred and 15 half-centuries in the format.
