The T20 cricket format has transformed, and now, it is not only the batting power that determines the outcome. In fact, teams have pushed the limits of scoring in limited-overs matches so far and so routine is their scoring that they have even started to create the perception of dominance in the sport through high scoring.

1. Baroda 349-5 vs Sikkim, 2024
Just a few weeks after the T20I match in which Zimbabwe scored 344 runs, Indian team Baroda went on to score 349-5 in just one T20 innings and this game was against Sikkim during the 2024 SMAT season in Indore. Openers Shashwat Rawat (43 off 16) and Abhimanyusingh Rajput (53 off 17) put up a great fight at the top and then came number three Bhanu Pania who made 134* in only 51 balls consisting of five fours and 15 sixes.
Not only that, Shivalik Sharma (55 off 17) and Vishnu Solanki (50 off 16) batted at the rate of above 300 and hence, added to the already huge total of Sikkim’s.
2. Zimbabwe 344-4 vs Gambia, 2024
Zimbabwe was the first team to bat in the match and they scored a whopping 344-4 in 20 overs against Gambia in the 12th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Africa Qualifier Group B, which took place in Nairobi, Kenya, in October 2024. Both the openers of the Zimbabwe team were Brian Bennett (26-ball 50) and Tadiwanashe Marumani (19-ball 62) who gave the team a powerful start by scoring fiery half-centuries in their six-over partnership of 98 runs.
The captain, Sikandar Raza, was at number four and he went crazy by scoring an unbeaten 133 off just 43 balls with seven boundaries and 15 towering sixes. Besides, Clive Madande also played a quick-fire 17-ball 53* at the end of the innings, hence Zimbabwe achieved the highest total ever in T20I history.
3. Nepal 314-3 vs Mongolia, 2023
Nepal mustered up a grand total of 314-3 in their 20 overs as Kushal Malla, playing at number three, turned Mongolian bowlers’ heads in the first match of the 2023 Asian Games held in Hangzhou. In fact, he showcased an outstanding career-high of 137 runs off just 50 balls along with eight fours and 12 sixes against the inexperienced bowlers of Mongolia.
The captain Rohit Paudel struck a quick 61 off 27 balls, while Dipendra Singh Airee made it to the record books with a nine-ball fifty as the T20 cricket’s fastest half-century of all time. Later on, the Nepali bowlers wrapped up the Mongols for a mere 41 runs resulting in an extraordinary record 273-run victory.
4. Punjab 310-5 vs Bengal, 2025
Assured of the prowess of Indian international Abhishek Sharma and IPL fan favorite Prabhsimran Singh, Punjab blitzed to a score of 310-5 against Bengal during their match in the Elite Group C of the 2025 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) season in November 2025. The toss won, and the decision to bat first made in Hyderabad, the Punjab openers Abhishek and Prabhsimran created a partnership of 205 runs in just 12.3 overs, where the latter contributed 70 runs off 30 balls.
Young Abhishek Sharma, on the other hand, smashed eight fours and 16 sixes in his record-breaking 148 runs knock from just 52 balls. Ramandeep Singh (39 off 15) and Sanvir Singh (22 off 9) also got quick runs against the likes of Mohammed Shami and Akash Deep as Punjab wrote down one of the highest SMAT totals ever.
5. England 304-2 vs South Africa, 2025
August 2025, the second T20I of the three-match series between South Africa and England at home, saw the latter team putting a total of 304 runs in 20 overs. Being the opening batsman, Phil Salt took the opportunity and hit the ball to every corner of the ground scoring an unbelievable 141 not out off just 60 balls with 15 fours and 8 sixes. His partner was none other than the experienced Jos Buttler, who also scored 83 not out off 30 balls with 8 fours and 7 sixes tearing apart the opposition’s new-ball attack which consisted of Marco Jansen and Kagiso Rabada.
The innings was completed by Jacob Bethell and captain Harry Brook before the England bowlers finished off the match giving the home team a comfortable victory by 146 runs.
