2008 IPL winners and 2022 finalists, Rajasthan Royals has seen a great fall from grace compared to the last mega auction cycle. After the previous mega auction in 2022, the Royals made the most of the best players in the auction and created one of the strongest squads from 2022 to 2024. This had an immediate impact with the Pink Brigade playing the final in 2022, after 14 years of wait.
Rajasthan failed to qualify for the playoffs to do so in 2023, followed by another playoffs finish last year. However, a lot changed after the 2025 auction. Those players made way for a lot of inexperienced and new players in the side. This led to fans getting angry and justifiably so. The players that were let go off such as Trent Boult, Jos Buttler, Yuzvendra Chahal, etc are doing well for their teams.
In the ongoing 18th season of the IPL, the team, more or less expectedly, have been ruled out of the playoffs race. After playing 11 games games, they have won only three. Their last win came against Gujarat Titans but only after five back-to-back losses, including two at home. Now, they need to win the remaining three games and look to get some players before the next player auction
