Ahead of the IPL 2025, 18th edition of the tournament, Gujarat Titans are all likely to enter the season with a new owner. As per the reports of the Economic times, CVC Partners are looking to sell the majority of stake off the Gujarat Titans, A franchise that just came into force three seasons prior.
As per the reports around the net, it is said that Adani Group and Torrent Group are looking to expand their present IPL Franchise presence and enter the Biggest home league tournament.
Currently owned by the CVC Capital partners, Gujarat Titans has had a good IPL Season so far. Playing three of seasons, the team was captained by Hardik Pandya for the beginning two seasons where the inaugural season was won by the team and the second season they lost title to chennai super kings in the final. The following year, the Gujarat Titans (GT) faced changes. Both of these successful seasons were under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya, who was traded to the Mumbai Indians (MI) before IPL 2024.
GT had to appoint a new captain and chose Shubman Gill for the role. However, the team couldn’t replicate their past success and finished eighth. Additionally, off-field changes are looming as CVC Capitals are looking to sell a significant portion of their stake in the franchise, while retaining a minority share.

Are Adanis the new Gujarat Titans owners?
The current owners of the Gujarat Titans have been constantly in search of the new partners for the team and have been looking to offload a majority stake while retaining a minority interest.
The franchise at present is valued between $1 billion and $1.5 billion, was purchased by CVC in 2021 for Rs 5,625 crore ($745 million). Adani and Torrent group are keen to acquire their stakes in the GT, previously they have missed out on the Ahmedabad franchise in 2021 but now are constantly in talks with the CVC Capital Partners to control and own a major stake of the Gujarat Titans.
Although there are no official confirmations made on the stake partnerships and ownerships of the team by the Adani’s, Torrent and CVC Capital Partners. All these partnership changes need to take place before the BCCI (The Board of Control for Cricket in India) lock-in period, which prevents new teams from selling stakes, ends in February 2025.

Adani has also invested in cricket through teams in the WPL and UAE’s International League T20, securing the WPL Ahmedabad franchise for Rs1,289 crore in 2023.
