India is all set for the England tour. Meanwhile, the A team is getting ready for two Test matches against England Lions, which are not unofficial in nature. Test 1 started today, and India was asked to bat first on a green wicket under cloudy weather conditions.
Both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Abhimanyu Easwaran openers struggled with the English bowling. Jaiswal braved the storm; Easwaran did not, 8 runs coming off his bat before he was dismissed cheaply. Now everyone’s wondering due to Easwaran not showing much potential to fill the vacant opening spot with Rohit Sharma retiring.
Now the thing that might be a bigger headache for the management: he looked a bit fragile while facing the new ball; he’ll have another opportunity to redeem himself in the second innings.

As for Jaiswal, he’s ready for the position of India’s number one opener. The other opening slot, however, is still under wraps. Easwaran has been picked for this tour, but if he doesn’t show up in these two unofficial Tests, KL Rahul will probably take his place alongside Jaiswal in the Test series ahead.
