Adrian le Roux becomes the new strength and conditioning coach for the Indian men’s cricket team after Soham Desai, who had been with the team since eight years. The Champions Trophy turned out to be desisting to Desai’s time with the team. Le Roux returns to the Indian team after a stint of six years with Punjab Kings, having worked with India’s cricket team as a physical trainer back in the early 2000s.
In a heartfelt message on Instagram, Le Roux stated his feelings about the Kings, referring to the loss in the IPL 2025 final as a disappointment but also saying that he was proud of his time with the team. And with that a 6-year journey with the @punjabkingsipl comes to an end. We made it to the final this season, fell short, and yes, that really hurt. But I’m proud of how we prepared and fought right to the end. What a journey it’s been.
He further thanked all those who were engaged with the franchise and emphasized that sports do revolve around results, but more importantly, it’s about people and friendships created in the process. So, looking forward to joining the Indian team, those memories will go with him. He feels privileged to have worked alongside some very talented players. He enjoyed his journey with Kings and feels like they are pretty good going forward.
Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav shared an emotional farewell with Soham Desai, who came in under Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri’s leadership but exited under Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid. Desai gave thanks through Instagram, vowing to continue in Indian cricket with a push for excellence.
Other changes have taken place in the team; Abhishek Nayar has been let go, while T Dilip has been retained as fielding coach with an extension.
