Michael Vaughan, the former England captain, shared his views on the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series (via Stick to Cricket X handle). The series between India and England ended 2-2 after five Tests in England. The pitches were generally batting friendly but bowlers also had a say.
For India, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah took two 5 wickets each in the series. Akash Deep, playing his first Test in England, took 10 wickets in 2 innings, the best by an Indian bowler in England.
When asked which team performed better, Vaughan said the young Indian team. He chose Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj as the top batter and bowler of the series. Siraj was the leading wicket taker with 23 wickets and Gill scored 754 runs in 10 innings across 5 matches.
When asked which team played the better series, Vaughan said I have to say a young Indian side. He gave Jofra Archer’s return to Test cricket a 9 out of 10 and praised Chris Woakes for batting with an injured hand in the 5th Test as heroic.
Vaughan said India deserved to draw the series. But he also felt England missed the chance to win the series 3-1 on the final morning at the Oval. He said England would have won the last match if their regular captain Ben Stokes had not been injured and had played.

Michael Vaughan gave Jofra Archer’s return to Test cricket a 9 out of 10. Archer, playing his first Test series for England since 2021, took 9 wickets in 2 matches with an average under 29.
David Lloyd, another former England cricketer, also answered the same questions on the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Like Vaughan, he said India was the better team despite the 2-2 draw.
He also chose Gill and Siraj as the best batter and bowler of the series. But differed when grading Archers’ return; he gave the pacer a 10.Back to back.
