Andy Flower, the head coach, is getting so much attention after Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally won its first IPL title in 2025. Before Flower’s involvement, RCB had never won a title since the start of IPL. Flower has been a good coach and has a good record.
Regarding Flower’s background, the Zimbabwean had an illustrious international career before settling into his full-time coaching career. Post his playing days, he began coaching, notably starting with England in the 2009 Ashes, then going on to lead England to the T20 World Cup in 2010. Moving away from the English setup, Flower went into franchise cricket and tasted glory with Abu Dhabi T10 League with Maratha Arabians and later with the PSL in 2021 with Multan Sultans, while also guiding the Gulf Giants [to] their first International League T20 title in 2023.

The biggest accolade Flower has received is an IPL 2025 title, when he took RCB to victory after 17 years of trying. Punjab Kings were beaten by just six runs in the final held at Ahmedabad after the team had been in the three finals before but could never clinch the trophy. The last moments were so emotional to watch, especially for Virat Kohli, who annotated 43 runs with him after the game, sharing a heartfelt hug with Flower. Kohli was overwhelmed with happiness and tears; they had finally done what they had been dreaming of.
