Speaking about India’s practice ahead of the important Tests in England that was to commence from June 20 at Headingley, he mentioned that he has been added to the Test squad for the new cycle of World Test Championship ahead of Harshit Rana and Mohammed Shami. In the nets, along with Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, and Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep has been tormenting the batters as he tries to find his way in the game.
Recently, Arshdeep shared encounters in practice against the new Test captain, Shubman Gill, and the new entrant, Sai Sudharsan. There was great competition between the batters; we really enjoyed ourselves, Arshdeep explained in a BCCI video. It means as bowlers, we had to push hard and come up with plans to get the batters out. Sai seemed solid in his first session, and the skipper looked to be in great form. I’ll keep all this banter going and hope to dismiss them quite often.
His aim was to adjust his body for Tests after having spent quite a spell of time in white-ball cricket. I aimed to get back in rhythm and feel how the red ball comes off the hand since many of us have been focused on white-ball games for a while.

As we move forward, he said, “We will lift the intensity and make it hard for the batters.”
Having played in a County Championship before, Arshdeep feels quite at home. After taking 17 wickets in IPL 2023, he then took north of 10 wickets for Kent, 13 wickets to be exact, in five games. With all that experience now under his belt, he can confidently aim to grab his initial Test cap and share bowling duties with Jasprit, whom he ranks as one of the best. Arshdeep knows that he has to continue concentrating on getting better.
I feel like the best whenever I hold the ball; however, a player like Jasprit is in a league of his own. Mutual support to get better is what we want, alongside supporting the team.”
