A new report suggests the Asia Cup 2025 will start from 1st week of September and clears the air on the tournament.
After the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir that killed 26 people, there were doubts on this year’s Asia Cup. India responded to the attack with a military operation on terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Timesofindia.com says the Asia Cup will start on September 5 and will be held in UAE with BCCI having the hosting rights. The tournament featuring India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and UAE has been given a 17 days window.
According to the initial schedule, India and Pakistan will play each other on September 7. The report says all teams are getting permission from their governments to participate.
This year’s tournament will be in T20I format with the final on September 21. After the group stage, Super Fours will take place and top two teams from that will play the final.

Earlier this year, a report said India might pull out of the tournament due to tensions with Pakistan, with BCCI supposedly telling the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) about their decision. But BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia denied these reports.
Saikia said the Asia Cup or any other ACC event hasn’t been discussed at any level. He added that as of now, BCCI hasn’t discussed or taken any steps on upcoming ACC events, leave alone writing to the ACC. He said their focus is on the ongoing IPL and the series against England for men and women.
