The 11th of June is marked to be the day the caravan goes to Lord’s Cricket Stadium for the big WTC final 2025 clash between Australia and South Africa. Both teams are sweating it out in practice. But some controversy stirred as it was said that Australian players were not allowed to train at Lord’s before the big two-day match.
It is reported by FoxCricket that the Pat Cummins-led side, currently residing in London, couldn’t use the field on June 8, just three days ahead of the final, due to Indian players working out there. India, meanwhile, is also in England with a five-match Test series starting on the 20th of June in their calendar, and they’ll be doing battle with England at Lord’s on July 10 for the third Test.
This choice for India, but not Australia, to train there raised a few questions. Luckily, the Australian squad has been given the OK to train on Sunday. They didn’t make too much of a big deal about it, and Cummins did not discuss it in the press conference on Monday when he stated he hoped that their experience would be a much better one this time around at Lord’s.
The last time they were there, it wasn’t entirely smooth as some members of the MCC got into heated arguments with the players, especially with Usman Khawaja.
Cummins said, “It’s nice and quiet, which is great. I’m sure it’ll be much more civil this time. Things got pretty heavy around the Ashes, but I think a lot of them learned from that, and I think they’ll be polite.”
