Bangladesh cricket is going through a big change right now. Mehidy Hasan Miraz is the new captain of the ODI team, replacing Najmul Hossain Shanto. After a year of experience, Mehidy is ready to lead the team into a new chapter.
He’s had some good performances across all formats which earned him this chance. Mehidy will make his captaincy debut in the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka. The team is struggling and currently 10th in the ICC rankings. In a recent conversation, Mehidy said he’s committed to turn things around and it’s time to stabilize and rebuild the team.

“We all have to take responsibility. We’ve played enough international matches over the last few years. The younger players have to step up and I’ll support them like the seniors did for me. I want to create an environment where they feel confident,” he said.
He also said having a stable captain for a while can really help the team to grow. “Since I’ve been in this role for a year, I want to improve the team during this time. It’s important to set the ODI team right, especially since we’ve lost two senior players. Those who get a chance need to make the most of it and I think we can build a strong team within a year,” he added.
