The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said Thursday that the Indian cricket team will get a Rs 58 crore cash prize for their Champions Trophy 2025 win. Rohit Sharma’s team won every game on their way to their third title.
India was clearly the best team at the tournament, winning four games to get to the final. They started Group A with a solid six-wicket victory over Bangladesh and then beat Pakistan by six wickets to get to the final.
They finished top of their group by beating New Zealand by 44 runs, which set up a game against Australia, who’d won the trophy before.
In the semi-final, India edged out Australia by four wickets before facing New Zealand in the final.
BCCI president Roger Binny said in a statement that winning ICC titles back-to-back is special, and this prize is a way to appreciate the team’s hard work and great play. He added that the cash prize shows they appreciate all the hard work people put in behind the scenes. He went on to say that this is also their second ICC Trophy in 2025, after the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup win, which shows how strong cricket is in India.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia praised the players and the support staff for their performances.
He said that the BCCI is proud to reward the players and staff, as they earned it. Their strong position in world cricket comes from years of hard work and smart moves. This win proves India is the best in white-ball cricket, and he is confident the team will keep doing well. The players’ dedication has set a great example, and he believes Indian cricket will keep getting better.
BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla said this win will be an inspiration to young cricketers all over India.
He said the cash prize is for the team’s great performances throughout the tournament. The players stayed calm under pressure, and their success will motivate young cricketers in the country. The team has shown again that Indian cricket is based on skill, mental strength, and a desire to win.
