Bhuvneshwar Kumar is now the second-highest wicket-taker in IPL history. He achieved this while playing on Sunday at Arun Jaitley Stadium against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru along with the Delhi Capitals. Bhuvneshwar took three important wickets in the match against KL Rahul (41), Tristan Stubbs (34), and Ashutosh Sharma (2), defeating RCB with a total of 162/8.
He tied at 192 with leg-spinner Piyush Chawla when he dismissed Ashutosh in the 17th over. Bhuvneshwar then took the lead in the last over by taking out Stubbs, bringing his total to 193 wickets from 185 matches. Yuzvendra Chahal is still ahead of him with 214 wickets in 169 matches. Bhuvneshwar, the only fast bowler in the top five, has spinners making up most of that list. Sunil Narine and Ravichandran Ashwin are also in pursuit with 187 and 185 wickets, respectively.
Bhuvneshwar now has captured 12 wickets in this IPL season out of 9 matches, and RCB is seated well at the top of the standings. Bhuvneshwar has played for three IPL sides, including the now-defunct Pune Warriors India; he spent 11 seasons at Sunrisers Hyderabad and claimed the title with them in 2016.
Meanwhile, Josh Hazlewood is also making his name with an outstanding season. The Australian bowler with today’s figures of 2/36 against DC has taken 18 wickets in 10 matches, thus topping the charts for the Purple Cap. Prasidh Krishna from Gujarat Titans is second with 16 wickets in eight matches. RCB has won 7 out of their 10 matches this season to acquire 14 points and not a single match lost so far playing away, with all its losses coming at home.
