Recent Outings- England
The year of 2025 has been a year of change and recalibration for England Women. A four-win-out-of-nine-opportunity journey that has had its highs and lows. There was a humiliating 3-0 Ashes loss at the very start of the year, after which Heather Knight resigned as captain. Nat Sciver-Brunt was given the mantle of leadership, while Charlotte Edwards took over as head coach – a new dawn.

Though the results achieved from there onwards have had their share of glories and downfalls, the England team has been in some wins and some losses since. Against West Indies in May–June, they flexed their muscles and won the series 3-0, by 108 runs, by 143 runs, and comfortably chasing down 106 (DLS) with nine wickets in hand, respectively.
The July series against India tested their resolve: England lost the first match by four wickets, chased by eight wickets under the DLS method in the second, and then lost the decider by 13 runs in a nail-biting finish. Yet, in the warm-ups, they sent out a massive warning by beating the Indians by 152 runs before cruising to a 248-run chase against the defending world champions, Australia, thus showcasing depth in their batting and bowling armory.
Recent Outings– South Africa
The path of South Africa toward the World Cup has been anything but straightforward. South Africa could manage just one victory in four attempts during the Tri-Nation Series against India and Sri Lanka earlier this year. Still, some individual brilliance was witnessed: Suné Dercksen top scored in the tournament with 276 runs, whereas Chloe Tryon returned six wickets.
The momentum returned during their West Indies tour in June, as South Africa tasted a 2-1 series victory. Brits piled 184 runs, Wolvaardt anchored the innings with 130, and Nonkululeko Mlaba took charge with seven wickets in three games.
September tour to Pakistan further sharpened their combinations: winning the first two ODIs bona fide — chasing 255/4 in the first and defending 292/3 in the second (DLS) —before faltering in the third, bowled out for just 115. Their warm-ups first match was washed away; however, they won against Pakistan in the second match by four wickets, thus arriving at the World Cup in high spirits.
England womens vs South Africa women Head-to-Head Record
- Total Matches – 46
- England Women Wins – 35
- South Africa Women Wins- 10
England holds a commanding lead in this rivalry with a majority of wins within good contests. The most recent face-off between these two teams was in December 2024 when England toured South Africa. The hosts won the first match by six wickets, but England made a comeback by winning the latter two matches by six wickets each to seal the series 2-1.
England may have held sway traditionally, but recent performances have made it rather close. With both sides set on making a strong start to their World Cup campaigns, Guwahati should see a fiercely competitive contest.
