The third edition of Major League Cricket started today at Oakland Coliseum in California with a match between the San Francisco Unicorns and the Washington Freedom. Finn Allen from the Unicorns was on fire, scoring 151 runs off 51 balls and breaking the record for most sixes in a T20 innings with 19. He surpassed Chris Gayle’s record of 18 sixes in a T20 innings which he set in the Bangladesh Premier League in 2017.
In that match, Gayle scored 146 runs and led the Rangpur Riders to 206 runs and they won by 57 runs. Back to today’s game, Finn Allen was merciless against the bowlers, hitting sixes all over the baseball field which had some tricky dimensions. His strike rate was 296.08, 134 of his 151 runs came from boundaries.
Thanks to Allen’s incredible innings, the San Francisco team scored 269 runs in 20 overs, the highest total in Major League Cricket history. Sanjay Krishnamurthi and Hassan Khan also chipped in with 36 and 38 respectively, both with high strike rates of 180 and 211.11 respectively.
