Yash Dayal, the star bowler of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, is in trouble. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against him in a sexual harassment case. He has been booked under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) as per the complaint.
Indirapuram police station registered the FIR after looking into the complaint submitted through the Chief Minister’s grievance portal, IGRS. Section 69 of the BNS deals with sexual intercourse with a woman achieved through deception, specifically a false promise of marriage made without any intention of fulfilling it.
According to the complaint, the woman claims she was in a five year relationship with Dayal. During that time, she alleges he took advantage of her by falsely promising marriage. She says Dayal introduced her to his family and acted as if they were already married which deepened her trust in him. The complaint also states that Dayal took money from the woman during their relationship and has acted similarly with other women. She says when she confronted Dayal about his deceit and relationships with other women, he resorted to physical violence and manipulation.
According to The Indian Express, the woman alleges Dayal had physical relations with her under the false pretense of marriage. She also claims to have attempted suicide many times because of the emotional distress. He had physical relations with me many times by falsely promising marriage and he introduced me to his family who assured me that I would be their daughter in law. I maintained the relationship with complete honesty and dedication, the woman stated. I tried to end my life many times because I couldn’t get out of the mental pain and he and his family kept giving me false assurances. His relationship with other women broke me down, she added.
