The IPL 2025 is kicking off on Saturday, March 22, and so are the team rivalries. The first match is between Kolkata Knight Riders, who won last year, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Eden Gardens. Every year, IPL gets fans super competitive as they support their teams like crazy. One of the biggest rivalries is between RCB and Chennai Super Kings, who have won five times. Their games are always great to watch.
Before the season starts, Subramaniam Badrinath, who used to play for CSK, made a funny video mocking RCB. He acted like he was from CSK, shaking hands with reps from other teams.
When it was time to greet the RCB rep, Badrinath just skipped him and went to the next team. The video quickly blew up on social media, making the rivalry even bigger.
RCB will play CSK twice in the IPL 2025 league stage. Their first game is on March 28 at Chepauk, and they’ll meet again on May 3 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Recently, Shadab Jakati, who used to bowl for RCB, talked about why he thinks the team hasn’t won an IPL trophy yet.
It’s about teamwork. To win, the whole team has to play together. A couple of players can’t do it alone. Chennai had a strong group of Indian players and some good foreign players. Getting the right mix is key. When I was with RCB, they only seemed to focus on a few players, Jakati told Sportskeeda.
There was a big difference in how the team was managed and the vibe in the locker room. The players were good, but they didn’t connect well as a team, Jakati said.
